Performance
Most electric vehicles use a single-speed direct-drive powertrain to accelerate without shifting. The Porsche Taycan operates this way in Normal mode, using only its primary gear. However, in Sport mode, it activates Porsche's industry-first two-speed EV drivetrain, switching to a smaller first gear for a quicker launch and initial acceleration. At the top of the range, it delivers a satisfying shift on its way to an impressive top speed.
The Porsche Taycan offers numerous performance configurations depending on the trim level.
- In its base form, the Taycan uses a rear-wheel-driving motor with 321 horsepower. Activating Launch Control briefly boosts output to 402 horsepower, enabling a zero-to-60 sprint in 5.1 seconds. The available Performance Battery Plus increases horsepower to 375, with Launch Control unlocking 469 horsepower and a zero-to-60 time of ~4.8 seconds.
- The Porsche Taycan 4S adds a second motor to the front wheels for a total of 429 horsepower (482 with Launch Control). With the Performance Battery Plus (522/562 horsepower), it can reach 60 mph in just ~3.8 seconds.
- The sport-focused Porsche Taycan GTS comes standard with the Performance Battery Plus (509/590 horsepower) and can race to 60 mph in ~3.5 seconds.
- The Porsche Taycan Turbo delivers next-level performance 616/670 horsepower and a zero-to-60 time of three seconds flat.
- At the top of the range, the Taycan Turbo S gets up to 750 horsepower with Launch Control, rocketing to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
Range and Charging
Available with a 79-kWh Standard Battery or a 93-kWh Performance Battery Plus), the Porsche Taycan provides an EPA-estimated range of 206 to 246 miles, depending on the trim level and battery.1. Charging takes ~10 hours with Level 2 (240V) charging equipment or ~45 minutes at a 150kW DC fast-charging station. The Porsche Taycan is also among the few EVs capable of 800-volt charging (270-kW peak), replenishing the battery from 5% to 80% in just 23 minutes at a compatible station.
Accommodations
More than just a track-ready sports car, the Porsche Taycan is also easy to live with. Premium materials, comfortable seats, ample passenger space, and a driver-focused layout make the cabin a pleasant place to pass the miles. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control and heated, power-adjustable front seats. Notable upgrades include ventilated front seats, a Panoramic Glass Roof, four-zone climate control, and front-seat massage.
The Taycan sedan has 14.3 cubic feet of storage in its trunk and an additional 2.8 cubes under the hood. The Taycan Cross Turismo's hatchback layout provides more practicality, with 15.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 42.8 with the rear seats folded.
Technology
The Porsche Taycan accentuates its futuristic character with a brilliant 16.8-inch curved driver display and a 10.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A lower 8.4-inch touchscreen contains the cabin and climate controls, preserving the clean interior layout without compromising accessibility. Standard safety technologies include collision mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, and front and rear parking sensors.
